A growing global trade organization in the aerospace industry ( seeks experienced senior executive to serve as CEO, with primary responsibility to serve as an ambassador and “face” of the organization before all relevant industry segments, including airlines, movie studios and other entertainment and content companies, technology companies including internet connectivity companies and hardware/software providers.

Primary Goals and Responsibilities

Increase awareness of APEX and its value proposition within the aviation industry in general (airlines and suppliers), and among senior management in particular.

Establish and maintain personal relationships with senior level airline personnel and successfully recruit them to be active participants in APEX programs.

Increase airline membership to include all significant carriers, including low-cost carriers

Increase EXPO exhibits to include all major “comfort” and cabin companies in the industry.

Be a sought-after subject matter expert and resource, speaker  at industry conferences and with trade and lay press.  

Be a successful advocate for APEX issues.

General Educational and Knowledge Requirements:

Minimum 20 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years in an executive, public-facing role for a company, association or other organization   

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications or associated disciplines; knowledge of airline passenger experience very  beneficial

Advanced degree a plus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience working with associations and association Boards of Directors a plus

Director, Airline Market Development

The Director, Airline Market Development will forge and maintain influential relationships with target commercial carriers in the region – to comprehend their individual connectivity strategies, anticipate their commercial movements, and ensure that Inmarsat remains, or is appointed, their provider of choice for communications on board their fleet of commercial aircraft. 

Primary role purpose 

You will work directly with airlines, and/or through a network of partners, depending on the senior commercial team’s decision on the best route to market. You will own the relationship with all carriers in the region and will be expected to lead the business development with each airline from pre-proposal stage, through to live service launch, and revenue generation. 

Key responsibilities 

•Build and maintain influential relationships with key decision makers at target commercial airlines in the region 

•Drive the uptake of Inmarsat products and services, and increase commercial airlines’ contribution to long-term revenue 

•Develop a thorough understanding of individual airlines’ connectivity aspirations, challenges and strategies

Responsible for leading the inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) product and service development, delivery and operations to deliver a remarkable pre-flight, inflight and post flight product experience for our guests, 

Responsible for the strategic brand direction of the inflight entertainment and connectivity offering including the entertainment content strategy;

Responsible for building on our world-class inflight entertainment and connectivity platform including innovating our systems, hardware, software and connectivity solutions;

Managing all aspects of the operational side of inflight entertainment including media and non-media content, hardware and software reliability, headset and publication operations, , in-service IFE systems together with the associated budgets and contracts.


Develop the airline’s strategic, commercial and operational Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity services strategy. 

Develop and implement the brand strategy for the airline’s Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity brands – E-BOX and Etihad Wi-Fly and market them successfully to both internal and external audiences to increase brand awareness and revenues where applicable.

Plan and manage the inflight entertainment content strategy and on-going selections to ensure that the content is strategically aligned to the Etihad brand and reflects current audience tastes, needs and consumption patterns.

Plan and manage annual IFEC budget, ensuring value for money and adherence to corporate governance and budget targets.

Use internal and external survey data, market intelligence and passenger usage data to adjust budget allocation and content strategy to deliver an IFEC product that meets and exceeds consumer expectations.

Work closely with OEMs, Technical, Engineering and Operations departments to maintain high operational reliability of in-service IFEC systems and adherence to contacted SLAs.

Manage tenders and contracts, write business cases and lead project teams as necessary for introduction of new products/services, managing and consulting with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to OEMs, Technical, IT, Finance, Supply Chain Management and Legal.

Manage the production and effective delivery of IFEC training manuals and operating procedures for cabin crew including Computer Based Training.

Research global IFEC trends and innovations to help design, develop and implement a leading IFEC product that not only enhances customer satisfaction but ensures a differentiated, “best in class” offering.

Develop and maintain relationships with key IFEC content and service providers including hardware and software manufactures, content distributor and major Hollywood studios. Conduct post-launch assessment of newly implemented or re-visited initiatives

Research, evaluate and filter product offerings within the In-Flight Entertainment, Aviation Connectivity industry and competitors and formulate/communicate these findings to stakeholders within the organization

Challenge vendors, partners on ideas/proposals lacking substance

Develop a competitive database of offerings 

Provide support and input into market research and testing process of new product/service assigned that are part of the assigned portfolio

Responsible for the development of IFE and Connectivity strategies that are to be pursued on Air Canada and Air Canada Express fleet types

Oman Air Management wishes to introduce iPad as IFE for the Business Class seats on B737 fleet with no seat back IFE screens. We are looking at selecting a vendor who can provide the IFE solution with the iPads and willing to work along with the Oman Air appointed CSP for integrating the content on the iPads.
